कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम्। अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन।।

Arjuna, where has this weakness come from at such a critical moment? It is unworthy of a noble person, brings no path to heaven, and earns no honour. Krishna's very first words are not comfort but a sharp challenge — he calls Arjuna's collapse out of character before offering any teaching.

हे अर्जुन, इस कठिन घड़ी में तुझे यह मोह कहाँ से आ गया? यह न तो श्रेष्ठ पुरुषों का लक्षण है, न स्वर्ग देने वाला है, और न ही यश बढ़ाने वाला है।

महद्भयपरित्राणाद्विप्राणामुपजायते ॥१॥

The conviction of non-duality arises in the hearts of seekers only through the grace of God, and this very conviction frees them forever from the great fear of birth and death.

साधकों के अंतःकरण में अद्वैत की जो निष्ठा जागृत होती है, वह परमेश्वर की कृपा मात्र से ही संभव होती है। यही भाव उन्हें जन्म-मरण के महाभय से सदा के लिए मुक्त कर देता है।

कथं ज्ञानमवाप्नोति कथं मुक्तिर्भविष्यति । वैराग्यं च कथं प्राप्तं एतद् ब्रूहि मम प्रभो ।।

How is knowledge attained? How does liberation come about? And how is dispassion achieved? O Lord, please explain this to me.

हे प्रभु! ज्ञान की प्राप्ति किस उपाय से संभव है, मुक्ति किस प्रकार घटित होती है, और वैराग्य किस विधि से उपलब्ध होता है — कृपा करके मुझे यह समझाइए।
